As these forums are for discussion about plants, talk in these forums (excepting a general chat topic forum), should focus on plant or society-related topics. The following guidelines are used by the forum moderator to oversee discussion, and there may be penalties for repeated behavior that is not generally tolerated on forums of this type up to and including permanent banning of participation.
1. Personally Offensive Behavior
- Participants are expected to behave with reasonable conduct on the AHS forums. Behavior that would be offensive to most reasonable people will not be permitted. This includes both photos and text. Discussing different sides of an issue is welcome, but simple name-calling is not. Photos in any forum cannot include material that is illegal, offensive or disturbing to reasonable people.
2. Politics
- Discussion of politics is something that raises too many bad feelings and is generally not welcome on the forum. Please refrain from any political discussion.
3. Religion
- It is acceptable to state personal convictions within the context of normal discussion, but not acceptable to challenge the convictions of others. Discussions of the merits or failings of any religion is not allowed.
4. Gossip and Accusatory Behavior
- The AHS forums shall not be used for libelous or malicious statements, nor for the distribution of private facts or speculation that a reasonable person would find offensive. It is acceptable to talk about someones health problems and wish them well, but not to discuss who is cheating on their spouse, or who secretly smuggled plants, etc.
5. Links
- Links in posts must follow the same guidelines and should be confined to sites of interest to most forum members. Links to off-topic sites are acceptable, but cannot include spam, pornography, phishing sites, pharmaceutical sales, replica watches, or any other typically unwelcome sites.
6. Language
- Use of profanity, derogatory comments, or comments that might typically be offensive to those of a particular race, sex, religion, national origin, sexual preference, etc. is not acceptable.
7. Photos and Text
- Any material posted belongs solely to the photographer or writer and any use beyond saving on a member’s own computers requires permission of the author/photographer.
