Hello all, asking for advice about Hostas that are currently growing in the ground in central Pennsylvania....... In one month (mid-September) I need to dig them up and transport them several hundred miles South. I plan on placing the root area in large plastic bags and secure them so they stay moist. QUESTION: at that point, could I cut off just the leaves or is that too soon? Any advice and suggestions greatly appreciated.

I've never moved south but I have found in PA when I transplant in the summer months the plants appear to be healthier when I cut off some of the the leaves. I had a friend who twisted off all of the leaves he planted back in May and he lost many of them; so I don't recommend twisting the leaves off or taking them all off.
